I like to monitor my life using new technologies to my own information, to improve my health based on the hours of sleep or the number of steps traveled. Why is the pillow under Xiaomi pillow in my opinion a poor way to monitor sleep? Invites you to enter.
I used mainly smart bands such as Jawbone UP / UP2, both versions were terrible. Then I had an armband from Xiaomi - Mi Band, much better quality. I also tried using Apple Watch but because it has to be charged every day, it was uncomfortable. I did not have time during the day to connect it for charging, so I went back to daily charging while sleeping. That's why I did not monitor my sleep for a while. Apple Watch best met my expectations as a smart band every day, and wearing me eg Banda as a second or putting on only for the night seemed to me senseless. Some time ago I came across the internet on a sleep monitor from Xiaomi which is put under the pillow, I found that it was something to me and I bought a Lunar Sleep Sensor.
The sensor reaches into a nice plastic case so that you can always take it with you on your journey. The device has a diameter of a beverage can and weighs very little, just 12g. It has one button at the bottom for pairing with a smartphone and a Micro-USB port for charging. Working on a battery is undoubtedly an asset of the device, it lasts up to 90 days. The second big advantage is communication via Wi-Fi, thanks to which the device synchronizes itself with the phone. I use a weight that connects only via Bluetooth and it is a big minus.
Unfortunately, the advantages of the Lunar Smart Sleep Sensor are over. Software is the biggest problem. The sleep sensor can be paired in the MiHome application, but despite having the latest version of the sensor software and application, the statistics are not always sent to our phone so that sometimes we have "holes" on the charts. Overstatement, in statistic there is also a shift of -6 hours in relation to Polish time.
Lunar Smart Sleep Sensor statistics can also be observed in the 12Sleep application which already includes Polish time and in my opinion has more legible charts. However, there is still a lot to the appearance of data from the FitBit application - according to me, the pattern in the context of monitoring steps and sleep. An interesting option in 12Sleep is the ability to play relaxing music that will help us fall asleep. Unfortunately, the sensor can not determine when we have already fallen asleep and will turn off only after the time defined by us 15,30 or 45 minutes.
What do I use now?
Yesterday's night I slept with the Amazfit armband (functions the same as MiBand) and in my opinion the presentation of the collected data is much better! In a while I will describe exactly how I judge Amazfit and MiBand 2.
If you are looking for a cheap sleep monitor, I suggest you buy a MiBand armband. If you are not interested in smart wristbands and would like to not think about the sensor, just go to bed and accept that sometimes your sleep may not be registered - Lunar Smart Sleep Sensor will be a good choice. However, if you are looking for a very good sleep monitor and you have some more cash, I suggest you check out FitBit products. Lunar Sleep Sensor is another Xiaomi product that I can not recommend with a pure heart, I hope that the number of bad products will not grow drastically 🙂
